Breaking the Cycle of Domestic Violence

CCEF Conference Hope for the Suffering

Workshop: Jeffrey Black In this audio talk, Jeff Black argues that battering in marriage is almost never a one-time event. It usually occurs in escalating patterns. How can a relationship that God intended as a sanctuary become such a battlefield? Jeff Black proposes that marital abuse is a breaking of the marriage covenant and lays out God’s intention for marriage. He uses the 3 part model 1.) Assess 2.) Protect & Provide and 3.) Equip & Empower. He encourages us to become advocates for the oppressed just as God is an advocate for the oppressed, and to model and instruct husbands and wives in healthy relationships and healthy responses to one another. Key Scriptures: Matthew 19:9, 1 Peter 3:1-7
