God's Hand in Hardship

CCEF Conference Hope for the Suffering

Workshop: “How is God’s hand in our hardship?” “Is this suffering God’s will?” These were the searching questions Joni Eareckson Tada was wrestling with after her diving accident that left her paralyzed at 17 years old. Tada says, “God permits what He hates to accomplish that which He loves.” Steve Estes was instrumental in Tada’s journey and she gives him the microphone to share biblical concepts that have encouraged Tada in her wrestlings. Estes discusses how we can engage with those who are suffering. He also fleshes out the realities of Philippians 3:8-11, and discusses how our sufferings turn into the doorway for Jesus’ resurrection life and power. He encourages his listeners that God takes it personally when his children suffer. Giving a picture of a life transformed by these truths, Wendy Budnick shares her testimony at the end of this session. Key Scriptures: Acts 24:28; Colossians 1:27; Philippians 3:8-11; 2 Corinthians 1:5; 2 Corinthians 4:8-11; 1 Peter 4:13; Col 1:24, Romans 8:17, Matthew 20:23, Acts 9:4
