For Better and For Worse: Loving Over the Long Haul, Part 2

CCEF Conference Hope for the Suffering

Workshop: This is part 2 of a 4 part talk. Winston Smith continues to explore Jesus’ big picture of marriage and relationships that keeps us from playing “hit or miss” in the way we work on our problems. He breaks down the first and second great commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and strength. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37-39). Smith exhorts us to ask “Who or what am I worshiping and praising? Who or what do I turn to for rescue?” Religious or not, we are all worshiping something. And we become like the thing we worship. Smith also discusses the question, “What does it look like to love my neighbor?” Key Scriptures: Matthew 22:34-40; Matthew 23; Luke 10:25-37; Psalm 71; Romans 1:22-23; 1 John 3; Psalm 115:4-8; Genesis 3; John 14:9-11; John 15:9-13
